B Basketball - Knights Blow Out Bulldogs
Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010Senior T.J. Thompson and junior Colton Goff had double-doubles to lead Preston (13-3) past the defending state champions, Martinsburg, by a score of 75-49 at the Knights Castle in Kingwood.
T.J. Thompson finished with a game-high 22 points and Colton Goff added 14 while they both pulled down 10 rebounds. The Knights also had a big game from junior Cody Thompson who netted 13 points and junior Clint Wagner who netted 11 points and had seven assists.
The Knights rolled to a 34-17 halftime lead and coasted from there. "That was by far our best game," PHS Coach Barry Sanders said. "We played well, shot over 50 percent, played great defense all night and just kinda shut them down."
Also putting up points for Preston was Shayne Murray with 8, Shawn Johnson with 3, James Crogan added 2 while Bronson Contic and Andrew Boggs put in one apiece.
The Knights JV team (7-6) had to settle for a loss to Martinsburg by a score of 51-44. R.T. Goff scored 18 points while Mitchell Koch and Matt Herndon both added 10 points for Preston.
