B Basketball - Knights Blast Bees in Sectional Play
Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010Preston Knights (16-3) started the 1st Round of Sectional play with a 37-0 lead over the East Fairmont Bees before finishing the Bees off by a score of 70-31. The scoring drought for East Fairmont finally came to an end with 1:20 left in the first half. Defensively, the Knights were everywhere and gave the Bees no easy shots. Preston forced countless turnovers and recorded 14 steals in the game.
Junior Cody Thompson had five of those steals while scoring nine points. Junior Bronson Contic also had nine points. These juniors were two of 11 different Knights to score. Thompson's older brother, T.J., was the only player to be in double-figures with 16 points.
The Knights were 10-for-18 from 3-point range (5-of-6 in the first half) and shot 56 percent (14-of-25) from the floor in the first half.
Also scoring for Preston was juniors Shayne Murray and Clint Wagner with 7 each, senior Andrew Boggs with 7, senior Demetrious Bishoff with 6, senior James Crogan added 3 points while juniors Colton Goff, R.T. Goff, and Shawn Johnson added 2 points each.
