G Basketball - Knights Complete Season Sweep of Tigers

The Preston Knights beat Elkins 43-37 completing a sweep of the Tigers on the year. The win improves the Knights record to 11-7. Eleven wins is the most wins in a season since the 1995-1996 season win PHS went 11-10 on the year. Solid ball control was a big key in the win as the Knights committed a season best eight turnovers on the night. Preston would jump out to an early 18-9 first quarter lead and still led 26-19 at the break. PHS only trailed once in the game as in the third quarter Elkins went on an 11-0 run to take a slim 30-28 lead midway through the period. The Knights defense would respond holding the Tigers to only two baskets from the floor and a total of seven points over the final ten minutes of the game.
Mackenzie Martin tallied 19 points and three blocks on the evening. Michele groves added 11 points and a team high eight rebounds and three steals. Ashly Plum scored eight points and two assists. Heather Clark contributed four points and three steals. Ashley Shrout rounded out the scoring with one point and three rebounds. Hannah Bolyard grabbed three boards, Kayla Boggs one board, and Ashden Shaffer one assist. Pending the weather the Knights will next travel to Tucker County.
