Preston High School History

Preston High School became a reality with the consolidation of Bruceton High, Central Preston High, East Preston High, Preston County Educational Center, Preston County Academic Center, and West Preston High. The school was built on the same campus in Kingwood with the existing vocational school and academic center.

The first graduating class at Preston High School was the Class of 1992 which had 362 graduates.

Originally, Preston High just enrolled sophomores, juniors, and seniors. With the establishment of the middle school concept in Preston County, freshmen joined the student body during the 1998 - 1999 school year. With the addition of freshmen class, the total enrollment was nearly 1600 students.

For the 2008 - 2009 school year, the enrollment at Preston High is as follows:

Freshmen - 396
Sophomores - 331
Juniors - 306
Seniors - 286

Total - 1319
